I usually cook Pork Sinigang because pork is what is commonly available. Today, I attempted to tweak my recipe a bit this time using shrimps.
Sinigang mixes do make it easier to whip us this Filipino Classic dish, but each home has it’s own secret – home-cooking with LOVE 🙂
Sharing 5 quick and easy steps, I did!
- In approximately 8 cups of water, drop onion and tomato slices. I give it around 5 minutes, before adding in the shrimps and letting it boil for another 2 minutes
- Pour in sinigang mix. and stir until it partially dissolves in water and add 3 minutes to boil
- Add in string beans, and optional veggies (eggplant, okra — we’re not a fan) , cover for 5 mins
- Drop in kangkong leaves and green sili. I normally sprinkle sugar on top of the green sili, because the kids don’t like it too spicy.
- Add fish sauce and pepper to taste. Best served hot!
So happy to be able to try new recipes really! Hope you’re enjoying home cooking this quarantine period as well.as well.
