Each app for a purpose.

With so many social media apps, being on all can be overwhelming. But I agree, each app for a purpose. What is important is what matters to you, and how these apps can help. I have here my frequently used social media apps:

Facebook

Facebook is really a platform to keep in touch. It’s easy to use and allows you to instantly share photos and videos, ask questions and recommendations from families and friends from anywhere in the world.

I have a private FB account for my family, relatives, and friends. This is my life milestone shared to people close to me. I talk about my family here and respond to my connections at a more personal level. I also have a public FB account for my business and community pages. I talk about me and my thoughts, but no mention of my family. I connect to other businesses as well, both buying and selling. I search for FB events through this profile.

Instagram

I love Instagram. It best depicts “a picture paints a thousand words”. It’s a digital photo album for everyone.

I have a private IG, so private that I have 0 followers. I have this as my personal journal where I keep stories of my everyday photos. I guess my secrets are (sort off) safe in this IG account. I also have a public IG which has the featured photos, but the full story is really on this website.

Twitter

Twitter allows you to find people of same interest, sometimes of same/different opinions who you can converse with. I use twitter for news and trends. I follow people that are opinionated, inspiring, or witty. I access this most frequently than my other social media accounts.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is where you put your professional profile out there. This is where Human Resource especially recruitment spends most of their time. If you have meeting with a new partner/vendor/company, know that someone in the room already looked you up on this app.

This one is for the people I meet both at work and events. I add those who have left a mark or an impression to me, so I can get to know them better in the professional environment.

There are more social media apps available. This time, more than ever, social media became an important platform as source of information, locally and globally. It’s amazing how knowledge sharing, crowd sourcing / fundings, and networking are happening each and every second. There’s power these apps so be intentional as to how you utilized each.

PS: Know when best to disconnect to connect, as well.
