Hard Habit To Break

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going

What is a HABIT?

  • a particular act or way of acting that you tend to do regularly – Cambridge Dictionary
  • a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. – Wikipedia
  • defines a habit as knowledge (why and what to do), skill (how to do) and desire (want to do) – Covey’s The 7 Habits

Starting this website is a commitment to self to start a new habit – of writing / journaling. I am beginner. If you’ve read my posts, I’d say you’ll see a freestyle writing. I write and go. I learn from people who give feedback, I improve through reading. But writing can be difficult, if you do not DO… and do CONSISTENTLY. For me, this is what forms a HABIT. I’ve written 14 posts, in 14 days, but I would just like to keep going, and to keep telling stories. And hopefully, the habit gets too deep it will be hard to break. This is my way time to think freely, with the hope that these thoughts would matter to someone, and possibly make a difference.

They say habits are difficult to break, but they’re not impossible. So let’s train ourself to stop saying, “I can’t,” and just keep doing “it” consistently. When motivation sparks, next best thing to do is to establish a habit. We can do this!
