Recipe of the Day

Toast is my go-to snack. It’s easy, I just need a bread, a toaster/over, and a butter on top and I’m good to go. I can eat toast at any time of the day, but yeah I usually have it for breakfast together with my hot chocolate.

This time, the idea of a french toast crossed my mind. A picture of french toast in mind is crispy edges, soft and custard-like center, and an amber glaze finish. I only find these perfect french toasts in hotels, and one close enough is Starbucks. I thought all this time that it’s hard to make one, that I never attempted to. Here’s my first attempt in 3 steps:

  1. Beat 1 egg, 1 tbsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla extract. Mix in 1/4 cup milk and 1 tbsp sugar.
  2. Prepare bread and soak in the mixture
  3. Heat butter in pan, place bread, and cook for 3 mins on each side on low-heat

Goal is not to have the middle soggy, the sides burnt, and the color just right. I tossed 4 breads into the pan, got 2 of 2 pretty right! An achievement right there. I put the 2 not so good ones into the even, at least it ended up to be a good toasted bread 🙂

It’s fun really to give a shot at things in the kitchen or in life. “Because you never now how absolutely perfect something could turn out to be”, unless you TRY. Keep taking shots. And, have fun!
