Today is Ascension Sunday, a week before the end of the Easter Journey. Ascension is the ascend of Jesus to Heaven on His 40th day of Resurrection. In the gospel, Jesus prays for us, His disciples:
“I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.”
John 17:11
Jesus continues to intercede for us to God. He does it every time we talk to him in prayer. Now more than ever, we are called to pray…
- for others
- for thanksgiving
- for healing
- for safety
- for strength
for the country, and the world.
Jesus never left us, he continues to be in each of us. We know this, we have experienced Him in our lives and we are called to tell the great story of His love for us, through words and more so in deeds. We are called to be joyful witnesses. We don’t have to preach word per word from the bible, it is in telling our own personal experiences of His love and grace, and by acting upon the needs of others – in need of love, in need of blessing, in need of hope.
As we face uncertainties now, may the Ascension of the Jesus reminds us that we are not alone. For the Holy Spirit dwells in us, to strengthen us and give us the grace we need to face everyday. For Jesus listens to us through our prayers, and He prays for us to God the Father. For God is love, and He loves us.
May this message gives us strength, hope, and joy! Be blessed.
