As parents are forced to work from home and kids to learn online because of the pandemic, using the internet to connect face-to-face becomes a new normal. On weekdays, we take average of 3 meetings, while the kids take classes at least weekly. Until there are clearer indicators on the decline in Covid-19 cases and evident safety measures put in place, I think the majority has to embrace video conferencing.
We don’t only use video conferencing for work or learning. We also use it to network and continuously connect with friends and families. Sharing a cup coffee or tea, or snacks and even water, helps relax the environment and invite more meaningful conversations. I don’t know but there’s something about food that gets everyone together.
It’s a weekend and I had setup two video conferencing calls. A virtual food party for the kids and virtual happy hour with friends. Yes, the children need this too. So there, let’s all find ways to stay connected while staying at home and keeping safe.
There are many choices for video conferences. There is Skype, Teams, WebEx, Google Meet, Zoom, etc. Even the apps we usually use for personal connections i.e. FaceTime and Facebook Messenger works well for this purpose. Hopefully everyone gets adjusted and comfortable on this main mode to connect.
Welcome the “new” normal!
