SELF-CARE PROMPTS

DAY 1: WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR TODAY?

In the fast-paced world we live in, we sometimes overlook the blessings in our lives. Take time to think of specific blessings that often go unnoticed.
By doing this, you allow your heart to smile. If you think of other things later, you can simply add to list. Whenever you feel sad, just pull out this list and read.

DAY 2: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU TOOK A LEISURE WALK?

– feel the warmth of the sun on your skin
– sweat a little with a good 10-15 min walk
– appreciate the beauty that you see, snap a photo if you must
– breathe
– and look up

DAY 3: HOW OFTEN DO YOU SAY “LET’S CATCH UP” BUT FAILED TO REALLY DO IT?

With social media, we think that seeing the posts and photos of friends are good enough catching up. Start with “how are you?” and see how naturally the conversation will just flow between you and a dear friend. There’s joy in laughing together than just the haha and lols. And it feels good having someone to share what’s worrying you and what pisses you off. Go, ring a friend today.

DAY 4: DO YOU WAIT FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION TO DRINK WINE?

It’s midweek. Be it the week turning out well for you or kinda chaotic or stressful, a glass of wine can be a treat. Wine is physiologically relaxing, sensual, and pleasurable. Swirl, sniff, and sip! Best consumed when relaxing on then couch with something nice to eat. And as the joke says, ‘It’s not just a glass of wine, it’s a wonderful moment waiting to happen. Enjoy a glass today!

DAY 5: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU ENJOYED THE BEAUTY OF SUNSET AND SUNRISE?

Watching this beauty gives us a better sense of gratitude for the earth. With all the things happening around the world, we need something to remind us of some sense of peace (sunset) that everything is going to be alright and some hope (sunrise) for a bright new day. Enjoy the magnificent colors!

DAY 6: HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO SLEEP BINGE?

Sleeping in for an extra two or three hours on a Saturday to reboot your energy levels is not so bad. Reward yourself with a much deserve rest. Just this time honey, don’t make it a habit. Have a relaxing day!

DAY 7: DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY THINGS YOU HAVE NOW THAT YOU NO LONGER NEED?

Here are helpful questions to ask self: “Does it spark joy?”, “Do I need it?”, Is it still useful? no-junk it, yes – Do you know someone who would love to have it? yes – give, no – donate. Someone can make a better use of your pre-loved items. Cleaning your space is clearing your headspace and giving is a sure way to be happy. Try to dispose unwanted possessions responsibly!

DAY 8: ARE YOU WAITING TO GO TO A FANCY PLACE TO DRESS UP?

Why not invite the family to dress up for today’s dinner? It will surprise you this random act can be a great memory. Don’t forget to take photos! Wear your favorite outfit, no one to impress but the man in the mirror. Anything goes, be creative, try different pairing and discover the style that will make you smile. Show Monday who’s the boss by power dressing, not for productivity but for pleasure. Have fun dressing up!

DAY 9: DO YOU FEEL AS IF YOU NEVER HAVE SUFFICIENT TIME?

Challenge is to disconnect for a day, or if you think it would be hard to completely disconnect, at least no checking of your social media for the remainder of the day. And notice how much time you have to do more. We can do it! Be back online after 24 hours.

DAY 10: ARE YOU FEELING EXHAUSTED ON A MIDWEEK?

Get your wind-down bedtime routine early today, and aim for 8 good hours of sleep. Better sleep gives us better mornings, to get us going for the 2nd half of the work week. Sleep tight and sweet dreams!

DAY 11: HAVE YOU TRIED STARGAZING WHEREVER YOU ARE?

As the week is slowing down, stargazing forces you to slowdown as you look up the sky flecked with sparkling tiny lights. You can watch alone but best with someone, as this also allows time for good conversation. Witness the power and enormity of the night sky!

DAY 12: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WROTE A LETTER TO SOMEONE ON PAPER?

With instant messaging, email, and social media, handwritten letters became less and less so doing this now will create a wonderful surprise. Studies revealed by penning letters, “you’ll feel happier, you’ll feel more satisfied”. For the receiver, it’s more cherished as it confirms the importance of the relationship. Time to set that pen to paper!

DAY 13: HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU WATCH YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?

If you haven’t watched the movie, which you absolutely love, enough or at least not lately, go ready the popcorn and drinks and do it today. Watching your favorite movie, or if haven’t found it yet, classic award-winning dramas to tear-jerking rom-coms movies always feel like a hug. And weekends is a perfect time for this. Enjoy a movie!

DAY 14: WHAT VEGETABLE SEED CAN YOU PLANT RIGHT NOW?

With a small pot, few seeds, garden soil, you can start a mini plant care project. By caring for a plant with some water, patience, love and sunlight, may you always be reminded to do the same for yourself. Happy planting!

DAY 15: HOW’S YOUR DAY?

Monday sure needs long stretching and deep breaths. This combination relieves muscle tension and relaxes you. Deep breathing helps you to focus and clears out confused feelings. While stretching targets pain due prolonged sitting or reduced movements. Hope this elevates your mood by a notch.

DAY 16: WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO MEDITATE?

Now, this moment. Use it to acknowledge your thoughts and feelings. Focus on the here and now. Breathe. Stay present.

DAY 17: WANT TO TRY SOMETHING NEW?

Many have tried cooking/baking this quarantine. Others preferred home-cooked than food deliveries. Hopefully today you’ll be in the mood to cook, and to cook something new! Have a happy meal.

DAY 18: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU DANCED?

It doesn’t have to be in a party or a club. Sometimes, you don’t even need music. It can be as simple as moving your feet following the sound of your heartbeat. Eyes closed, you can just feel your vibe and move freestyle. Or if you can grab a special someone for a hug and slow dance. Feel it, and let it flow.

DAY 19: WHERE TO GO AFTER ALL THIS?

We’ve all been staying safe at home lately due pandemic. We haven’t done much planning for anything exciting or to gather with our loved ones. But actually we can start planning that trip, date to be determined. Start by checking out places you want visit, work out an itinerary, check forums and travel guides. The planning alone will give you a good feeling, as you imagine all these happening soon. Enjoy the process.

DAY 20: IS THERE A NEW THING YOU’VE BEEN WANTING TO LEARN?

Go find it in YouTube. There are plenty of tutorials on each and every topic. They say watching others do it makes us more confident to perform them as well. It’s ok to try, but no pressure on being an expert at it. Discover what you’ll love.

DAY 21: GOT SOMETHING READY FOR FATHER’S DAY?

If none yet, you can always try to do something cute and memorable. Show dad you care with something personal. DIY as a gift, or to accomplish something nice to brighten up your day. Special shout-out to all loving Dads, we appreciate you

DAY 22: ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMETHING GOOD?

There’s good in everything. Start by looking inward. Write down 3 kind things about you, and see how it changes how you look at things around you. Love and light!

DAY 23: WHAT IS A PODCAST AND WHY YOU SHOULD LISTEN?

Podcasts are audio programmes. As our day becomes busy with so many things, it can be hard to squeeze in time for self-improvement/ learning. Podcasts allows you to listen anytime, anywhere and there’s a broad range of topics you can choose from. So go ahead and discover!

DAY 24: DO YOU KNOW A PROVEN WAY TO BOOST YOUR MOOD?

It’s by one small, thoughtful gesture or kind word that can make someone else’s day. These acts don’t just benefit others, we also have this feel-good emotion after doing something nice and it can certainly do wonders for your wellbeing. Spread the good vibes!

DAY 25: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU TRIED A FUN BRAIN TEASER?

It’s almost the weekend, but while we look forward to that we have to keep a sharp mind and maintain our focus for the remaining days. Ease out and try some funny brain teasers. It will keep you entertained while at the same time keep your mind in shape. Find a brain exercise that works for you.

DAY 26: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACHIEVE 6 MOS, 1 YR, OR 2 YRS FROM NOW?

Go tell your future self, how you are today and your hopes and dreams. If plan to read after a year or so, get a pen and paper. Find a quiet place to write. Write the date today. And begin.. If plan to read in a few months from now. Get Planner / Calendar. Go to the specific date when you want to read it. Start to note..

DAY 27: WHAT’S THE LAST BOOK YOU’VE READ?

Now is a perfect time to pick a new one. No pressure though, try for a good 15 minutes. If you find it good then let it take you further. Start turning the pages.

DAY 28: DO YOU REMEMBER THE LAST TIME YOU PUT YOUR FEET UP WHILE LISTENING TO YOUR FAVORITE SONG?

Music is effective for relaxation and managing stress. Have a slow and satisfying day today as you easily connect with certain songs. Play whatever soothes your soul.

DAY 29: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WERE REALLY PRESENT/FOCUSED ON A COFFEE BREAK?

Did it happen to you that you grabbed that cup of coffee, take a sip, and the next thing you know is that you have an unfinished coffee (now cold) sitting on your desk? Yes it does happen if you don’t treat yourself to a “real” coffee break. Cherish that time of the day when you can be quiet with yourself and your coffee. Pay attention to the aroma. And when you’re with peers, instead of scrolling through your email use the time to really connect with the people around while enjoying the taste of your coffee. It’s one of life simple pleasures!

DAY 30: DO YOU HAVE A PERSONAL MANTRA?

If none, it’s best to have one. A mantra reflects what you strongly believe in, the one phrase that will motivate or encourage you to deal with your current circumstances. It’s a way to channel what you want in life. It’s something you can tell yourself when you look in the mirror, or whenever you meditate, that you can claim. When you find it, you’ll know.
